WOOD, Elizabeth Deans December 17, 1922 -February 3, 2012 Passed away at the Clarion Nursing Home in Stoney Creek of a lengthy illness. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Doug, after 64 years of marriage. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Betty completed her training as a school teacher in 1943. Three years later, Betty came to Canada as a war bride. After a fulfilling career teaching in Scotland, Peterborough, and London, she retired at the age of 65 with the Hamilton-Wentworth school board. Betty was very active in her retirement years doing private tutoring, working at the Elections, and memberships with Club 60 and Cheyne Presbyterian Church. She leaves her children, Paul, of Fleet, U.K., and Marion Robitaille (Roger), of Hamilton; and grandchildren Anna and David Wood of Fleet, U.K., and Amy and Jay Robitaille of Hamilton. Also left are her nieces Victoria Marsh (Marc) of Burlington, Margaret Wood and Elizabeth Morley (David) of Toronto, four great-nephews, many cousins and friends from across the globe. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Ambis and all of the caring staff at the Clarion Nursing Home for their many years of care. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at Cheyne Presbyterian Church, 7 King St. W., Stoney Creek, on Saturday February 18th at 2 p.m for friends and family. Interment will take place later on this year. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. |
